On the way we will be crossing the steep Shugar la pass(5250m) and Chitul la pass(5210m). As we cross these passes we will observe the nomad families living in their black tents and tending their herds on the grassland. Couple of natural lakes can be found on Chutul la pass and these lakes become source of stream following down the valley. During May and June this valley basin is filled with blossoms of rhododendrons and  fragrant junipers. Herds of wild goats can be found in the rocky parts of this valley. Then we head towards the Yarlung valley and end the trekking at Samye monastery. We get to explore the historical buildings and hermitage cliffs around the Yarlung valley.

Day 1 - 3 Lhasa exploration

Upon arriving at Lhasa, you will be met by our representatives and transferred to your hotel for check-in which is located in the old part of the city or the Tibetan Area. The holy Jokhang temple and the busy Bakhor Street will be at the center of your hotel area and that will let you peek into the daily traditional lives of Tibetan living there. Over the next following days you will be visiting few world heritage sites such as Potala Palace- one of seven wonders of world according to USA today in 2006. Jokhang temple, most sacred temple in Tibet with important collection of cultural artifacts. Pilgrims from far and wide have taken arduous journeys across mountains and rivers to visit the temple since centuries back. The street around the Jokhang temple, colloquially known as the Barkhor, is famous for its traditional market, which also serves as a meeting point for pilgrims from different places. It is a real pleasure to walk, rubbing shoulders with other pilgrims and tourists on this bustling street. The street is also regarded highly in spirituality, as a walk circumambulating the Barkhor on this street is considered as one of the most devotional circuits. The great monasteries of Sera and Drepung, which are also located in Lhasa, are two of the most advanced traditional learning centres in ancient Tibet. Numerous scholars and practitioners of the Tibetan Buddhist faith have passed through these monasteries. After that visit to NorbuLinga which served as the traditional summer residence of the successive Dalai Lamas. We also arrange special visits to typical Tibetan villages to meet families or receive rare, sacred blessings from high lamas.

Day 4 - 8 Ganden monastery, Shugala pass , Chitul la pass

After three days of good rest and acclimation in Lhasa, we drive through the Wangku hill with numbers of switch backs and reach Ganden monastery. From the hilltop one can have a great view of the Lhasa river valley. We then encamp down in the Trubshi valley where we get to meet the Yaks and nomads. Next morning we start the trekking from the next village within the valley studded with grass and shrubs, and cross over the towering Shugala pass (5250m) through a steep trail. It will be the most challenging part of the trek. We then cross the Chitul la pass(5210m) which has lesser slope. Once we reach the top, we can view a beautiful mountain panoramic views of Balang Tsodu lake down in the basin. Rest of the trek would not be difficult as we climb down following the stream. We get to nomad families dwelling in their black yak wool tents on way. The scrub willow and rosebush forest will look amazing during the summer with blossoms of rhododendrons and fragrant junipers. We then gradually pass through villages and reach Samye monastery. Built in the 8th century, Samye Monastery was the first Buddhist monastery to be founded in Tibet.
