The 8-day Tibet Everest base camp tour is a unique excursion into the deep and dangerous Himalayas. The tour begins from Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet via the colourful Tibetan city of Shigatse heading to Mount Everest (Chomolungma in local dialect). As you drive the mount everest, you will come across the diverse flora and fauna of Tibet with its unique and rich Tibetan cultural traditions.

Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, is known by many names including Chomolungma or Sagarmatha meaning the holy mother of mountains. These names represent the respect and affinity of the local people with the mountainous ecology and their devotion to nature.

Come and see the Everest Base Camp, arouse the adventurous climber soul inside you. It can also be a new beginning of your life’s journey in the not too distant future.

Day 1 Arrival Lhasa

Arrival at Lhasa (3600m), capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Your Lhasa tour guide will wait for you at the airport and help you to get to the hotel.

Day 2 Lhasa

On a visit to Lhasa, a trip to the Potala Palace is a must. The Potala Palace is one of the largest buildings in the world and was the official home cum office of the successive Dalai Lamas. After fininshing your lunch, we will move to the Jokhang temple (1 hour) - where monks receive their official training and education. The Jokhang temple is surrounded by Barkhor street, known for its traditional Tibetan market. The Barkhor street can be summarised as a window into the Tibetan cultural world. When you are at Barkhor, it is also an opportunity to buy colorful ethnic handicrafts rarely seen Tibetan artefacts which is very rarely available outside of Tibet. After that, we will drive back to your hotel and the rest of the day is free for your convenience.

Day 3 Lhasa

The third day of your trip is reserved for a daylong tour of the city beginning with a visit to the Tibet Museum, the first modern museum in Tibet. After the tour of Tibet museum, we will drive back to downtown Lhasa and have lunch, after which we will continue our tour to the Norbulngka park (1 hour) - a traditional summer palace and residence starting with the 7th Dalai Lama.

After Norbulingka, we will pay a visit to Sera monastery (1.5 hours) - to see monks debating inside the shady courtyard behind the main temple. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.

Tips: The starting time of the monks debating in Sera Monastery is around 15:00

Day 4 Lhasa Gyangtse Shigatse

Today, you will drive to Shigatse in the morning. On the way, you can take a short stop at the pure blue Yamdrok Lake (30 min) - one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. And continue to drive to Gyangtse Palkhor Monastery & Kumbum Pagoda (4000m)- with its unique structure at the foot of Dzong Hill. Then continue your driving toShigatse (3836m). When arrival Shigatse downtown, have rest of this day in your hotel.

Day 5

The 5th day of your trip will begin with a visit to the famous TashiLhunpo monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama.Tashi lhunpo is one of the largest monasteries in Tibet located in Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet. After visiting Tashilhunpo monastery, we will drive to the Sakya Monastery - the principal monastery of the Sakyapa school of Tibetan Buddhism. And then, we will continue driving to Tingri (4300m). You will arrive at Tingri around the evening. You will Stay overnight at a hotel in Tingri. Even though the hotel where you will be accommodated is simple, the people are very friendly and will make your stay enjoyable.

Day 6

You will begin the day early generally between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. to catch the picturesque sunrise from behind the Mount Everest. Following the sunrise and a hearty breakfast, you will embark on your journey to the Mount Everest Base camp. After a bumpy journey of about 3.5 hours, you will reach the base camp. After basking in the scenic beauty of the place under the majestic Mount Everest, it will be a driving day with about 8.5 hours on the road back to Shigatse. Overnight stay at Shigatse.

Day 7

After a full night’s rest, you will be transported back to Lhasa city via a different route. Along the way, you will get to witness the grand Yarlung Tsangpo river in all its glory. Lunch will be served on the way.

Day 8

The time before you leave for the airport is free for your convenience. Bid Lhasa a fond farewell as you board the flight or get on the train to your next stop.
